The Slyrs Single Malt Whisky comes from the Upper Bavarian distillery at Schliersee. The name "Slyrs" is a pseudo-Gaelic corruption of "Schliersee". The distillery was founded in 1999 by Florian Stettner and is located directly on the shore of the Schliersee. Managing director Anton Setter and master distiller Hans Kemenater brought 50 barrels to 1501 metres above sea level with the help of a ski lift - to the summit of the Stümpfling. The barrels are stored there for 5 years before they start their descent. Mountain air and strong temperature fluctuations of up to 60 degrees have a decisive influence on the taste of the whisky. Burned in the valley... ...matured on the mountain!Tasting notes:Colour: Light gold. Nose: Slightly smoky, roasted almonds, bourbon vanilla, caramel.
