The Gaelic word from which Dalwhinnie is descended is "Dail-coinneeamh" which means "meeting place". The Dalwhinnie belongs to the famous Classic Malts series. Due to its maturation in Oloroso sherry barrels it is an exceptional malt. Awards: - Gold medal in 2016 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. - Silver medal in 2011 at the International Spirits Challenge.Tasting notes:Colour: Rich gold. Nose: fresh, dry, notes of heather, peat. Taste: Soft, light, smooth, notes of heather honey, vanilla, citrus fruits, hints of malt bread. Finish: Long lasting, intense, sweet-smoky, peat, malt. The pure heather notes of 15-year-old Dalwhinnie are best enjoyed pure or perhaps with a shot of still spring water.
