The distillery Caol Ila was founded in 1846 near Port Askaig by Hector Henderson. Caol Ila means "Sound of Islay" in Gaelic. The maturation of the whiskey takes place in refilled American oak casks (hogsheads) and refilled European oak casks (butts). Distilled: 2000 Bottled: 2016 Tasting notes:Colour: Gold.
