The Alois Lageder winery cultivates 50 hectares in Margreid. The closeness to nature and the consequence to sustainability characterize the life in the winery and its wines, as well as the engagement with contemporary art. Alois Lageder does not use synthetic chemical pesticides, insecticides and mineral fertilizers, instead the winery uses preparations, homeopathic teas and compost as fertilizer. Tasting notes:Cherry red with ruby glints in the glass. In the nose a fruity bouquet of plums and berries, spicy notes. On the palate medium-bodied and bittersweet with a noticeable taste of tannin. Long lasting in the finish. Grape variety: Lagrein. Maturation: Malolactic fermentation, 12 months partly in stainless steel and partly in concrete tanks. Soil: Lime, alluvial soils. Harvest: 17-19 September 2018. Bottling: April 2020. Age of the vines: 21-56 years. Acidity: 5,3 g/l. Storage potential: 2-6 years. The wine goes very well with red meats, game and cheese.
